Suspended ceiling prices per m²: a guide price
Suspended ceiling prices are quoted per box of tiles and per box of grid, which makes it hard to compare jobs. This guide turns the live prices into a per m² guide price for three bands of tile, with the arithmetic shown so you can check it and swap in your own choices. It covers the materials only: tiles, grid and hanger wire.

Quick answer
- Basic (TVS Fissured on USG Donn DX24 grid): from about £12.05 per m² ex VAT, supplied, excluding fitting.
- Mid (Rockfon Artic+ A24 on Rockfon T24 grid): from about £17.45 per m² ex VAT.
- Premium (TVS Mineral dB on USG Donn DX24 grid): from about £34.46 per m² ex VAT.
- These are pro-rata guide prices. Real orders are rounded up to whole boxes, so small rooms cost more per m² (see the examples below).

Tile prices per m²
Price per m² is the box price divided by the box area. These are the 600 × 600mm tiles we list today, from £6.76 to £28.11 per m² ex VAT. Prices correct at 28 October 2026 and may change.

Grid prices per metre
Grid is sold by the box, with the length in the box in the product title. Dividing the box price by the metres gives a price per metre. Check the tile manufacturer’s guidance on grid compatibility.

How much grid per m²?
These quantities are approximate. They follow the standard 1200 × 600mm layout that our suspended ceiling calculator uses, with a 0.4m drop, and ignore cut-offs and the effect of room shape.

The three tee lengths add up to 3.33 metres of grid per m², the same as a plain 600 × 600mm grid. In our 30 m² calculator example the calculator needed 20 hangers and 15m of wire, which matches the roughly 0.5m of wire per m² above. For wire we assume a 4kg coil of 2mm steel wire is about 160m, worked out from the weight of the steel, so it costs roughly 7p per metre. Hangers, fixings to the soffit, lights and access panels are not included.
Worked guide price per m²
Each band is the tile price per m² plus 5% waste (the calculator default), plus the tees, wall angle and hanger wire. Grid and tile prices as above, ex VAT.

Small rooms cost more per m²
The guide prices assume you use almost everything you buy. In a real order you buy whole boxes, and the grid often comes in boxes larger than a small room needs. Two examples from our suspended ceiling calculator guide: a 30 m² office in Rockfon Artic+ A24 costs £772.55 ex VAT with whole boxes, which is £25.75 per m² (against £17.45 above), and a 36 m² shop in TVS Fissured on USG Donn DX24 costs £687.20 ex VAT, which is £19.09 per m² (against £12.05 above). Choosing tiles

Frequently asked questions
Does the guide price include fitting?
No. It covers tiles, grid and hanger wire only, and no fitting.
Can I mix brands of tile and grid?
Often, but check the tile and grid manufacturers’ guidance, including whether the tile edge (square edge or tegular) suits the grid.
Why is my quote higher than the guide price?
Whole boxes, room shape, waste, extra cuts and the other items above all add cost. Use the calculator for a parts list.
