The FlipFix Plasterboard Faced Access Panel has a plasterboard faced door in a beaded frame, so it can be plastered in with the surrounding wall or ceiling and then decorated, leaving a discreet access point to the services behind. It comes with a budget lock and installs with the FlipFix fitting device. This version is 1 hour fire rated, in 10 sizes from 150 x 150mm to 600 x 600mm.
Features
- Fire rating: 1 hour fire rated (supplier code FF/060/PD/BF/BL). Also available: Non fire rated.
- Fitting: suitable for walls and ceilings.
- FlipFix fitting device: no need to brace or support the structural opening, and no screws, glue or other materials are needed. FlipFix says the device saves up to 80% of the fitting time of a standard access panel: follow the fitting instructions, close the door and walk away.
- Plasterboard faced door: can be plastered within the wall or ceiling for a discreet finish, then decorated.
- Beaded frame: the FlipFix fitting instructions say to apply scrim tape before plastering.
- Budget lock as standard, locked with the key provided.
- Pop-out template: stock sizes come with a perforated pop-out template, built into the box, for marking out the opening.
- Not acoustic rated and not airtight rated.
Sizes and fitting
Sizes are the panel sizes listed by the manufacturer. The FlipFix fitting instructions say to cut the plasterboard so the opening is 5mm larger than the panel size, place the frame in the opening (there is no need to take the door off), then, with your drill on a low torque setting, screw in the FlipFix devices until they grip the back of the plasterboard securely.
