FlipFix Metal Faced Access Panel - Picture Frame - 2 Hour Fire Rated

The FlipFix Metal Faced Access Panel gives neat, lockable access to services behind walls and ceilings. It has a white metal faced door, a steel picture frame and a spring-loaded flush lock, and it installs with the FlipFix fitting device. This version is 2 hour fire rated, in 10 sizes from 150 x 150mm to 600 x 600mm.

Features

• Fire rating: 2 hour fire rated (supplier code FF/120/MD/PF/FL). Also available: Non fire rated and 1 hour fire rated.
• Fitting: suitable for walls and ceilings, installed into a pre-cut hole.
• FlipFix fitting device: no need to brace or support the structural opening, and no screws, glue or other materials are needed. FlipFix says the device saves up to 80% of the fitting time of a standard access panel: follow the fitting instructions, close the door and walk away.
• Flush lock: spring-loaded flush lock opened with a T key, for a sleek, discreet finish with no bungs to break or go missing.
• Picture frame: 20mm picture frame. Sizes up to 600 x 600mm have the mitreless frame, made from one piece of steel with no mitred joints, for a more robust panel with a cleaner finish and less snagging on site.
• Depths: 15mm door depth, 54mm frame depth.
• Finish: RAL 9010 white, 30% gloss.
• Pop-out template: stock sizes come with a perforated pop-out template, built into the box, for marking out the opening.
• Not acoustic rated and not airtight rated.
• 2 hour installation: the FlipFix fitting instructions say to apply intumescent acrylic mastic to the back of the frame before fitting a 2 hour fire rated panel.

Sizes and fitting

Sizes are the panel sizes listed by the manufacturer. The FlipFix fitting instructions say to cut the plasterboard so the opening is 5mm larger than the panel size, place the frame in the opening (there is no need to take the door off), then, with your drill on a low torque setting, screw in the FlipFix devices until they grip the back of the plasterboard securely.
